Determining the Cause

Chief Complaint: Cough

a. History: Acute < 3 weeks

b. Further History: Pertussis outbreak or known close contact with a confirmed case, the presence of a cough lasting ≥2 weeks is sufficient for clinical diagnosis (even in the absence of other symptoms).
